As a follow up to my original post. I rang Quinn to change DS's details and they said "Great, we've updated your policy, that's just another £1095 please !!!" I'd already looked online and found the cheapest ins for me and hubby and son as third driver was only (ONLY mind !) another £600 on top of the £833 we originally paid. I asked Quinn if they would match it and they said "We don't do that I'm afraid" I said "OK, I'd like to cancel then thanks"
Five minutes later we were insured with Admiral who were the cheapest.
Incidently, I drive an R Reg Rover 400 rust bucket !!0 -
The vicar posting earlier made me laugh and as an experiment I have just requested a comparison quote stating that both myself and my hubby are ministers of religion and our son is the third driver. Interestingly, the quote is £300 MORE than before.
I must live in a dodgy area!!!0 -

Try Admiral multi-car - it worked for us. Mind you, saying that DD is still on a provisional licence, but the insurance is in her name. Until reading this thread, it had not occurred to me that I might have to pay more once she passes her test. When DS was learning to drive, albeit nearly 3 years ago, I paid £1600 to insure his Corsa, with both DH and I as named drivers. Once he passed his test, it did not cost any more.
I might ring them and ask them if it is going to cost any more when she passes.0 -
Yes you do-myself and my sister were insured with Quinn as provisional drivers- she has passed her test and bought a new car a few months later. We called to remove her from the Quinn policy on my car- for them to tell us that as she had passed her test and we didnt tell them she was not insured for the last couple of months while driving my car as they were only insuring her as a provisional driver, not with a full liscense.0

Sean Quinn who owns Quinns is the richest man in Ireland with nearly £5 billion pounds wealth. He is a clever man who started with nothing and knows how to make money thats for sure. If it makes you feel better he has just bought 15% of the Anglo Irish Bank with his profits0
