    I've bought a vax carpet cleaner and has solution with it. i've used it but not been very impressed with it so i was wondering what do people use for the best cleaning results also less chemically

    i've used stardrops- not very good
    fairy- okish
    vanish and fairy mix with vanish sprinkled onto carpet beforehand - ok

    but i need something that makes the carpet smell nice aswell

    washing powder...then over again with clean water with a bit of fabric conditioner

    did it clean tthe carpets - did u notice a difference

    We use 1001 from Pound shop with good results.

    Hi I have the self sufficiency household cleaning book (just got it very excited!) and for a shampoo recipe for in carpet cleaning machines they recommend 4-5 tsp liquid castile soap or dishwashing liquid in 9 litres of hot water and add 4 and 1/2 tsp of borax or soda crystals (to the whole 9 litres)
    I havent tried this so dont know but hope it helps
