if you mean why did I post on an older thread to bring it up, that's what I thought would be most helpful

can you tell me where this is A-Z is

and how new do you have to be not to get a public telling off by an official for a simple mistake?

    hi ladygrey
Most of us on this board would love a public telling off by squeaky;) :D seriously though didnt i follow one of your links to a great OS book one time? (sorry maybe im mistaken)

So i have been doing a lot of decorating lately and would give sugar soap the thumbs up for a really good clean and also to reiterate that you may pay a bit more for the wipe clean paints but as im going round the house replacing the old paint with new im finding the new takes so much less time and effort to keep nice. Just wish skirting boards would go totally out of fashion at the moment cos i hate painting them:mad:

no you're not mistaken I did do a link to a book

where you are wrong though is reading into my post that I didn't know how to do one

and regardless of what most of you on here might want from squeaky, I didn't want a public telling off, it isn't a joke and I wasn't aware that I'm only allowed to link to other threads not post and 'bump' it
which is why I asked where the A-Z is so I could see if there was any other rules I wasn't aware of

I've just had a private message about all this
asking me why I'm posting on threads a couple of weeks old and that some people think I'm another user posting with 2 names
that was the first message I'd ever received here and I'm quite upset by it
I'm writing here as it seems like more than just the private messager contributed

I spent the last week reading this wonderful oldstyle forum and gathering loads of useful information, lots of times it says 'don't post new threads post on existing ones' and also 'use the indexes or search'
so I have, and when I've come across something I want to comment on I've done so, is there a time-limit for posting?
on the surface it looks like such a friendly forum, and I'm sure it is, what does one have to do to be accepted?

what a shame you are taking this one so to heart ladygrey - this board has the nicest most genuine people who will go out of their way to help you as a newbie and even dare i say it any alter egos who dont feel they can come on here and be them selves. Im afraid the "how to be accepted" question is one i wouldnt be that qualified to answer because i am still more of an lurker on OS than a poster but whenever i have posted i seem to be accepted just being myself. I think squeaky is one of the old style regulars and he certainly seems to do a lot of work for the board (dont know if he is one of the team but he seems to put in a lot of hours)

Im sorry you were upset by the pm you recieved - maybe if it was bad you should report it to abuse and if i upset you by joking about squeaky then i apologise. This is a very laid back thread and maybe a chill out is in order

Sorry you are seeing it like that Hun. It is a very friendly forum and people here are very helpful. I don't know who sent you your PM and I gather from what you say that you found the contents upsetting. That is a shame and I am sure it was not the intention of whoever sent it to you.

One of the things I have learned since I have been doing the Breadmaker thread is just how fast OS moves. It is a LOT of work for Pink, Ark and Squeaky. There are over 10 new pages a week at the moment, that is just new threads, not additions to existing threads. Keeping that number of new items in such a way that we can all find them again when we need them must be a full-time task. A link to that new thread rather than resurecting the old one could have saved one of the BGs more work that you might imagine icon7.gif

I really enjoy OS and I am sure you will too. Recently a request was made for volunteers, see HERE. It is fascinating thing to help with the board, and I personally have learned a lot from doing it. Can I suggest you give it a go? It will be the fastest way to find your OS feet.

Might be good to start again? Hi, I'm Racy, welcome to OS ladygrey icon7.gif
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

sorry Racyred but it was the intention of the private messager to be nasty

I too think that most people on here are nice and friendly

bringing up an old thread was a mistake I made as I didn't know any different, and didn't expect a telling off, and anyway where is the rule saying that I can't post on a thread 2 weeks old

surely posting on old threads instead of starting my own 'helps' keep less threads on the board, or would you rather I started a new thread everytime a question crossed my mind
