Goldfish/Barclaycard Refund problems

Hi
Found out 2 months ago that some "Mistakes" on our Goldfish/Bcard had led to our account going from £79 to £18,600 in the red....!!! They called them mistakes but in the ensuing calls a couple of call centre staff used the Fraud word. They have agreed to the "mistakes" (which also led to debt collectors letters) and agreed to pay back the money owed to us. They have tried to return the money to our account now on 17 occasions....!!! we have had every excuse(most of them twice or more). Does anyonr have details of someone we can talk to to get this resolved. we have already tried and failed with the Complaints manager and the payments section supervisor.
Any help greatly appreciated.

  • To get this resolved you need to speak to them.

Saying this im not sure i understand your position, you spent £79 on your Credit Card, and then for unknown reasons (fraud?) the balance increased to £18600. I get this part, but are you expecting them to pay this £18600 to you? The balance would simply be reduced down to what it was originally.

For future reference, call centre staff should not be discussing fraud issues with you.

    Could Explain things:

LONDON - Prosecution lawyers at Southwark Crown Court in London have alleged that a gang of five fraudsters turned their London flat into a credit card cloning factory - stealing £3.5 million in 11 days.

The alleged fraud factory targeted Barclaycard as cardholders migrated from the Goldfish credit card

In my experience, the call centre staff can not / will not be able to much on the account. You should really write them a letter, outlining the problem, what you expect them to do about it and a time line that you expect them to act within, and send it recorded delivery to their complaints department. If they do not respond send another but also state that you will be contacting the ombudsman in regard to the matter. Hopefully this will make them act more quickly.
