I have a template letter set up which the date is auto entered. Now when I save the document, and re-open the document the next day it presents me with the current date and not yesterdays date in which it was saved. I have unchecked the update field. I used to be able to do this in the 2003 version, but I can't for the life of me find this in the 2007 version.
Anybody know how to do this?
Thanks in advance.

The date/time option appears on the toolbar when you select the View menu. On Selection, it actually displays a dialog similar to the insert field dialog in 2003, choose the date format and ensure that the update automatically checkbox isn't selected. Does that work?
Alternatively, if it is the Save date that you want to insert, use Alt+i+f and select savedate from the insert field dialog box instead of just date. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Date & Time are on the Insert toolbar.
I've just set up a template with two date & time fields, the first with "Update Automatically" checked and the second unchecked. The date & time gets updated with checked item but stays at entered date & time for unchecked.0 -
I don't have W2007 in front of me but I'm pretty sure there is a 'SaveDate' option (i.e. the date the document was saved) when you insert the field.
...Or more specifically - insert a field thru "Quick Parts" then choose Categories>Date & Time>SaveDate rather than the 'Date & Time' button
edit ... See http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA101003401033.aspx0 -
Thank you to all who contributed.Regards,
