I wouldnt ever recommend Mcafee to anyone. Its awful
But AVG isnt too hot these days either, Id recommend AVIRA anti virus:idea:0 -
I have got Kaspersky 2009 (£14.99 via CO-OP acct) and Malwarebytes very good!
I had Avast, Spybot, Antispyware, Adaware, Malwarebytes and Zonealarm fairly smoothly. Avg did give me more trouble.

What exactly is wrong with Mcafee??
Funnily enough, ive delt with 2 or 3 people on here today with mcafee problems
But anyways ~
Its slow
Uses too much in resources
Fails to find a lot of nasties it should (MAJORLY important considering the job its SUPPOSED to be doing)
Conflicts with quite a lot of software
Awful firewall..............:idea:0 -
Just to add balance....
Today at work my PC blocked a colleague's memory stick because of a trojan. The AV (Norton) flashed up a message saying it had deleted the Trojan.
I updated Norton and ran a scan on the USB drive, which showed nothing. I did the same with Malwarebytes, which found nothing. So I assumed it was clean.
Bizarrely, the drive then showed up as a Folder, not as a drive, in My Computer, and any attempt to open it was met with "Access Denied".
My colleague was very concerned. I told her I'd picked up a trojan on my USB drive from the same network but my Anti-Virus had removed it, so tonight I brought home the USB drive and plugged it into my PC, which runs McAfee. It instantly picked up the trojan the other two scanners missed or had claimed to have deleted, just as it had done with mine, and it deleted it.
So, for all its faults, McAfee does have its plus points. And they keep giving me 50% off around renewal time, so I get it for 19 dollars as a download from the US (around 10.50 GBP last summer), which is damn good value for something that has kept my home PC virus free for the past 5 years.
And another thing: Computer Shopper awarded McAfee its best buy antivirus last month due to it have the best detection rates.

I've purchased the 2009 Security Suite last month because of a 50% off voucher.
It's on the desktop and laptop and so far we've had no conflicts and is running fine on both computers.
The desktop is 6 years old and the Mcafee doesn't hog any more resources than the CA antivirus I removed.
It's picked up and stopped several scripts and trojans too, but then that's my fault for visiting the sort of sites I shouldn't really be on.
Overall, I'm reasonably pleased with it so far.Dave. :wave:0
