Nightmare with Credit Scoring and moving :(

Hi guys...
I'm having a real nightmare this week as I'm due to move property (including a credit check), and have some incorrectly listed information on my file (a CCJ!).
Basically... when I lived at a previous property, someone I lived with decided it would be a great idea not to pay their rent, and landed the 3 of us living there in a huge debt.
Because the contract was a joint contract, we were all slightly liable for the problem.

Eventually after finding out we were due in court and things were getting nasty, I ended up bailing this guy out of £4000 debt and moving property.
The courts contacted the registry trust to completely remove the CCJ as I was neither liable and had also sorted out the payment promptly for them.
I thought that everything had been dealt with, but that's just not the case...

On Saturday I ran a credit check with Credit Expert (experian)...
They still have the CCJ listed (a year since the fiasco), so I've been in talks today, with them, The Registry Trust and also Leicester County Court, to get things amended how they should be.
I've also checked things with Equifax...
Their record seems to be okay, but they don't have the previous address linked or listed, so I'm waiting for a response to ensure everything is 100% okay with them.
CallCredit Check... I have to say I really don't like this company or their site, it seems very badly built, and when I requested my record, it just came up with entirely blank data in each section of the record! Fantastic! They're shut for the day, so I can't find out the status until tomorrow.
Just to be on the safe side, I used The Registry Trust's own online checker, paid £8 for each address I wanted to check, so I checked my current address and the previous address I was at.
To put my mind at ease, both of these address returned "No Orders or Judgments made".
As I'll want to know if Credit Check (experian) have updated their records properly in a few days time, I'll need to run yet another credit check.
I know on this site it states that doing your own credit check won't cause any upset for lenders and companies.
But theoretically.. if there's an issue with Equifax and CallCredit Check, aswell... then I'll have to re-check my records with them in a few days time.
... this would mean at max that I'll have done 8 checks alone for myself... and possibly more checks by the companies themselves, from their own errors.
I know checking your own record shouldn't affect things... but will checking it THIS many times cause any problems ?
Is this going to affect my credit scoring application for moving fairly soon ?
For any advice I get back here... the only advice I can give is... Don't get a joint contract with friends you even think you know well! It's made me weary of getting a joint mortgage or similar if I settled down in the future!!
Would really appreciate any advice on this!
Hopefully things will work out.
Regards,
Alan

It sounds like you are doing all the right things to sort it out. I'm not sure if checking your own credit record will cause you problems later, but I can't imagine it would. It's very different from other people checking your credit score, isn't it?

Do you have anything in writing from the court to show you paid?
As you now know for next time, choose your friends more carefully if you are going to sign a joint contract with them...there is no such thing as SLIGHTLY liable

Yep I do have a letter from the Courts which was issued out for removal of the CCJ. It's not a case of it being satisfied, they have asked for it to be removed entirely.
However, the agencies won't just accept that kind of documentation, they only update their records based upon The Registry Trust. (which is up-to-date, in good shape and lists no judgments or orders, which is correct).
The Registry Trust fax the credit agencies when a change occurs, or a record needs amending. But for some reason, something's not been done somewhere alone the line.
At the moment it's just sat on my record with Credit Check as a £4000 debt CCJ with no more information. It looks terrible and is guaranteed to decline my moving process as things stand!
The agencies seem to vary in speed of sorting things out. Credit Check have said they're contacting the registry trust either today or tomorrow which is good, and then my file with them will be in shape by the end of the week hopefully. :T
Equifax are extremely slow... they told me to send a message online via their dispute system in regards to my previous addresses not being linked, and that they might take up to several days to sort it out.
Annoying when you're meant to be paying for their services... (well I say paying... I'm on a 30 day trial).
And CreditCall Check just seem to be a mess... I don't even have any idea what or if I've paid for anything... I signed up via their 3 month free scheme... but to be honest I've got no idea what I've signed up to as they don't make anything clear.
I tried to apply for a credit card last autumn with easyjet due to the air miles they give as I'm a frequent flyer, I also was put forward for a consumer card with my business banking account... both were declined!
I think all of this would explain why they were declined now!
Wish I'd got round to checking my credit info sooner instead of leaving it until I move property!
If things have not been rectified with the agencies, before the estate agents ask to move things forward, then I'm going to have to try delay things or as a plan B... get another family member to sign the contracts for the time being.
Major headache all this. :mad:0 -

The checks that you are performing are visible to you alone.I know checking your own record shouldn't affect things... but will checking it THIS many times cause any problems
There are a number of different checks that appear on your file:
1) Your own checks
2) Identity checks (firms making sure the details you give them are correct - full name, DOB, address, that sort of thing)
3) Credit checks (as in you applying for credit.)
It is only the last of these three that are visible to 3rd parties, and that have an effect on your credit score.)Conjugating the verb 'to be":

I spoke to my mate about this who used to process mortgages...
I was adamant that this was the case, but he tried to tell me different by saying... "well try checking your credit score about a dozen times in a year and im sure you won't find it easy getting approved for anything"
Is he talking sense or nonsense ?0 -
Nonsense, since if he was processing mortgages, the only checks he would have been able to see are those in category [3] (unless it was his own credit report, of course.)Conjugating the verb 'to be":
