Has anybody tried this website to get a free valuation of their property?
I found it through a link on the smartnewhomes website, and thought I'd give it a try. But I've tried 2 homes now (ours, and my parents - they're planning to move, so I'm not after the inheritence yet, lol!!!) and the result comes back complete gibberish - no prices, just a string of info.
Perhaps I'm missing something

I just tried it and got a proper results page. Has to be said that the results are pretty far fetched. We've just bought our first place and it was up for £140,000 (which I thought was very fairly priced) and they accepted our offer of £132,000. I thought we'd got a good deal, but clearly didn't realise how much of a bargain it was, http://www.propertypriceadvice.com/home/ values it at £240,000 as an average! Which is strange as it asks for your post code but none of the houses on the street have sold for that much!0

This site was spot on for the house I've just bought, the websites valuation was only £1k away from what i paid.I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!0

Why not use HousePrices.co.uk This shows how much people have sold/bought houses for on your postcode.
Gives you a good idea of the value if there are similar houses which have recently sold on your street.I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!0 -
It was spot on for me, upper valuation was 170000 which is what the house we are buying was originally marketed for. Lower valuation was 145000 and we are paying 146000 am happy for seeing it as I was worried we were paying too much but I love the house.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I tried with a house that I put an offer on and it was bang on what I offered! I'm going to try again with some others that I like, what an interesting site0

I tried it and it was pretty much spot on.0

For my property that we are selling we are getting the lower valuation.
For the one we hope to buy we are buying it below the lower valuation!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
