Which underlay for laminate floor?

Options
What sort of underlay would be needed for laminate in ground floor rooms that are to be laid on top of a suspended wooden floor? [lounge/diner and maybe bedrooms in a bungalow.]
Do I need the one with the moisture membrane, the one without it - should I go for the fibre boards?
What are the advantages and longevity of them of each and are soundproofing qualities a factor?
Thanks for your advice.

For any ground floor room, concrete or floor boards you need a DPM and underlay or a combifloor underlay.

Timbermate do a floor called excel gold which is ideal.....good thickness, vapour barrier attached.but you would need a vapour tape for any joins.

this used to be available from floors2go, but they have changed range (some may have it) and now do one which doesnt require vapour tape for joins. their new one is a black rubber type with a stickt tape that overlays any joining...not as flexible as excell gold and IMO it is better buying Quickstep combifloor as this does the same job, is cheaper and is in longer rolls....Floors2go only sell 9 sq m rolls now!

If you can source excell gold get it! if you want acoustic floor pads you wiil need a plastic damp membrane underneath.

    hope this helps!

    Thanks :)
