Moving house soon - sky tv query!

I don't know which forum to ask this question so if this is the wrong one could someone give me an idea where to correctly post!!

We are due to move house in a couple of weeks.

We have been sky customers for about 8 years now.

I'm sure the house we are moving to has sky installed.

We have been quoted £50 to transfer our services to another address even though we disconnect and physically move all equipment ourselves.

Is this the norm? Or could we potentially haggle?

Any ideas would be gratefully welcomed. Plus any further moving house ideas even though I'm not stressed about it yet but I'm sure the stress won't be long coming!

Cheers y'all!!!

    Hello dirtyepic

    Welcome to the MSE site.

Your question has been asked before on this thread SKY TV - Moving House.

This thread Cutting the cost of Sky has some helpful tips.

    Kind Regards

When i moved a couple of years ago, all i had to do was unplug my old box, and plug it in at my new address, as they had sky already. I only had to inform sky the day i moved and had no problems. Not sure if this has changed in the last year or so, and not sure if this would work if you have sky +.
  • same here as catowen - I moved in Oct 2005 - just took the Sky box from old house, plugged it into the dish at the new house. Phoned Sky to tell them change of address.
    No Problem & no cost!!!

I think that the £50 Sky are refering to is for putting up a new sat dish (that's what they charged me 4 years ago when I moved into a house with no dish!!)

    Good luck!
