Travelling From Blackpool To Alton Towers

Hi

A friend of mine is hoping to visit alton towers in august. They are staying in a hotel in blackpool.

First of all which airport is best to fly into FROM Belfast? We were thinking either Blackpool, Manchester or Liverpool but don't have a clue!

secondly if we fly to blackpool what sort of public transport is there for travelling from the hotel to alton towers?

finally which airline is best to use? I think jet2 are the only ones who fly direct from belfast to blackpool but other than that any help is greatly is appreciated!!!

Why are they staying in Blackpool to go to Alton Towers? There is no public transport from Blackpool to Alton Towers. They would be pushed to do it in one day. Its a long way away. Would Blackpool Pleasure Beach not be better? If they are staying in Blackpool then I would say Blackpool Airport would be best as Manchester and Liverpool both involve bus/train journeys.
  • I agree with Coxy- it's do-able in a day by car, certainly, but by public transport it would be hellish.

I grew up close to AT, and we used to go on seaside trips to Blackpool by public transport- it was quite a trek!

Train from Blackpool to Alton Towers would be approx four hours, and cost approx £57 adult return.

Coach would be just under seven hours. I can't find a fare for that journey.
    Gone ... or have I?

No direct route - I take it you don't travel by public transport a lot? :p

Stoke to Blackpool on a good run is about an hour and a half by car, we do it a few times a year.

Of course, factoring in rush hour M6 traffic it would take longer.

Maybe better hiring a car, or staying overnight in one of the many local hotels.
If coming by train its a 15 minute taxi drive from Uttoxeter station to the Towers, or there used to be a bus (X65 I think) that run directly from Stoke Station but you would need to check with First Bus locally
