Removing Tea Stain From Carpet

Options
Hi,
recently the mother in law to be spilt a cup of tea on our sand coloured carpet.
We cleaned it up as best we could at the time, but with other things going on we didnt manaage to get the stain out properly.
This weekend we hired a carpet cleaner which was brilliant and cleaned the rest of the carpet, but even it struggled to remove the stain.

Does anyone have any tips / advice on what we can gtry now ?

  • I've just woken up to find a huge, dry tea stain on the carpet from where my wife knocked a cup over.
I found this with a quick search: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090102070818AAuP01g
I haven't tried it yet. Other sites recommend leaving it to soak, possibly overnight, in much diluted clothes washing detergent. Short of that it's a Stain Devil or carpet shampoo.

Do you know anybody who you could borrow a steam cleaner from? Only my steam cleaner has managed to remove stains made by spilling black coffee so feel sure it would work for tea stains too.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Try Halfords Heavy Duty Car Carpet Cleaner - it's a spot treatment, and I have yet to find a stain it can't deal with.
