How much longer are you aiming to keep this up for? I wish I even earnt that much.

Oh blimey, that is a good question.

I have 2 payments on account to deal with £5.5k that was due at the end of January and another £5.5k due at the end of July :(

I am also still clearing off penalties and interest from last year. This all started cos my old accountants made a mistake on one of my returns. Their mistake but I still owe it unfortunately. Had they not made the mistake i would still owe and probably have still struggled to pay it. :(

So i suspect my regular payments will be a fairly constant feature for the next year at least. Those of you who are self employed know this bleeding merry-go-round is a twice yearly sore. We have to pay our tax in advance!!!! And the figures are based on your last years profits.

I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.

    But to todays total - £100 makes £2600, i think :)

Hi Lemma! Has you cashflow started to flow again or is it still frozen? Hope you're feeling ok in yourself x

And we are at £2900 today.

    Hi Hopeful1

My cashflow is stagnant at best. I am getting the odd drip in but it falls way short of what i need to meet my monthly commitments. But my HMRC arrears have to take precedence. That may change over the next week or so and there may be a bit of a lull. I am into my costly Halifax overdraft but its a necessity so has to be done so i don't pee the HMRC off too much. xx

Geez i do feel for you Lemma, as they really have you by the short and curlies don't they? You're doing so well to keep going with this. As difficult as the blips are, you know you can get through them xxx

  • Wow - that's nearly 3,000 already this year - that's some going. Hope the cashflow picks up for you soon. Keep Going.

P.S I wonder how many pages your statement will be from them (I guess they send you statements periodically)? You'll probably have a record. :rotfl:. I bet the tax office actually quite like you as you are paying even if they probably find your methods a little um - unconventional. :rotfl:

My way of paying them has caused much confusion.

I got a really nasty final demand threatening court action a few months ago as they said i was only paying them £100 A MONTH!!!!! NO i said, LOOK AGAIN YOU BLEEDING NUMPTIES. Needless to say they withdrew it. Clearly you do not need to know your basic maths to work in the debt recovery department of HMRC. :p
