Blimey, it takes a year for me to get the amount it is reducing for you from my ex!

Hmmm, might be time to talk to him again.... :D

Don't begrudge her a penny. Still pay for my daughter (pleasure!) and the school fees.....only 2 more years of those!

That is good to hear dwsjarcmcd re not begrudging the amount, you are obviously a very proud and doting parent.

It was like trying to get blood out of a stone to get my ex husband to pay for his children and even then it is only a very small amount.

Edit - Oooppss better add something more on topic.

My parents (where I spend a lot of time so it sort of qualifies), purchased their 3 bed semi detached home in 1969 for 3.5k, it was worth approx 190k at the height but we estimate it would probably be around the 160-165k area now.

Not that it matters, they aren't selling and they have never seen it as profit.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Live in 3 bed semi in nice area of Central Scotland with 16 year old daughter. Bought at the end of 2002 for £68K now worth around £130K. A drop of around £15K from last year. Value is not a huge issue as its my home not an investment. Really happy here and just getting new bathroom and kitchen fitted as I want to stay. No mortgage, paying it off was a huge priority because I wanted to give my daughter a secure home.

Spoke about and was advised on the housing market so have lived with parents since then and been saving lots and looking for a house we want to stay in for a VERY long time.

  • Living in a large 4 bed detached in a semi rural location 1/2 an hour from London. We have a small mortgage and will be mortgage free come April.

It's hard to know what our home is worth. I guess it doesn't matter, because even though I keep an eye on what is on the market I never see anything that suits our needs better than what we've got. It is tempting to buy a small flat for DSs to live in but will wait before we take the plunge (if we do) because I believe they'll be loads of cheap flats on the market befor too long. At the moment, in our area, they are still massively overpriced.

bought in 2004 - 2 bed terraced for £128k, mortgage was £110k. put it on the market to get a 3 bed for our growing family - on the market in Feb 08, kept dropping the price trying to be realistic. Had an offer in Dec 08 of 115k which we accepted (mortgage now £100k) and negotiated on a 3 bed detached in a lovely area for £160k. Increasing our mortgage by 30k and looking forward to moving in a month or so hopefully!

  • Living with my parents in London with my daughter at mo - it's a 3 bed terrace. I am unemployed (I am a stay at home mum) and have saved a substantial deposit, so that when my daughter starts school, I can go back to work and (hopefully!) get a mortgage.
