Reclaiming Bank Charges Through Hardship

Well I,m new here , I read the guidelines regarding claiming 6 years of bank charges through hardship .
Even saw some of the lucky people who managed it .
Picked up the phone , phoned my bank who I have been with for 23 years , and got the run around .
Finally I got through to "customer relations !" , hypocritical that title is .
I explained I was suffering financial hardship and through the FSA,s guidelines I would like to claim back 6 years of bank charges .
Also explained I was a war pensioner with a 20 % disability and that you are deducting £37 from my account next week for a failed direct debit , which I cannot afford .
He took down my details , informed me he could not stop the £37 being deducted as they had been more than generous by returning a bank charge previously .
This was nearly a year ago , how generous of them !!!.
And now I,m sitting here looking forward to up too 8 weeks waiting on the bank to do something about it .
Personally I think the banks are hypocrits and I wont hold my breath reclaiming my bank charges back .
