Modified car insurance

Hi All

I am looking for car insurance for skoda ocatvia VRS it is a modified car and having trouble getting the premium down. I have previously owned other modified cars so know a few good companies (policy shop, express, green light) but just wanted some opinions of other competative insurers for modified cars.

My current quote (best so far) is from Adrian Flux.
£651.00 fully comp (through NIG insurance)
£150 excess
4 years NCD (involved in 1 accident but 3rd took 100% responsibility)
SP30 in 2005 (£60 fine, 3 points)

thanks all

  • How old is the car and what is its value. Im not up on the trade price of skodas?
Does the car hav modifications above the factory spec and if so what?
Also how old are you - personal question but if your under 25 your policy will always be quite a lot more.
dont speeding fines come off after 2 or 3 yrs? sure y you dont have to mention something from 2005?
my insurance - clean licence, no yrs no claims (as its a second car - hav 5yrs on first) no accidents, on a 30k merc 220CDI - out the showroom was £500ish - would have been 1k+ on the petrol verson (and im 23 years old). so if your male, u seem to hav a reasonable quote!
  • I am 25, the car is a 51 plate. They ask for any convictions over the last five years although the points don't accumulate after 3 and you can have them removed from your license after 4!!! the car is worth about £3500.

It has an ECU remap putting the BHP up from 180 BHP to 210 and a foam filter.

Mini Bear do you have any insurers that might come up trumps in getting the premium down?

Word of warning ... I'd find another insurer if I were you. I had a claim through NIG last year and it was a total nightmare. I've referred the case to the ombudsman, and am waiting for them to assign it to an adjudicator for a decision.
