  • Although BSM is a national company......stay clear of them. The driving instructor I had was to say the least useless and not friendly. When your'e learning to drive it helps to be relaxed and feel at ease....I don't live in Bradford but when your'e out and about look out for learner cars, jot the number down and ring them. It's also a good idea to query the instructors pass rates to make sure he will be a good teacher.

When I was learning to drive 10 years ago  BSM were commonly known amongst my friends as "bl*** stupid motorists" :rotfl:

My driving instructor was fantastic. Very friendly, very efficient. She taught me, my brother and most of my relations to drive! There was another instructor (one man bands where I come from originally) who we'd been told to steer clear of. Whenever I've seen him taking a lesson, he's had a cigarette in his hand with the window wound down. You wouldn't do it in a classroom, so why do it in a car that's your classroom????? Nowadays when I see him round town, he's also got a mobile phone glued to his ear...................

If any of your friends have learned to drive then ask them for recommendations and who to avoid.

It's been suggested before to check what level of qualification an instructor has, higher the better.

I found a good one for my son, through personal recommendation, nowhere near Bradford I'm afraid. But a colleague is learning and one instructor said how much he enjoyed his job, sitting next to lots of pretty young ladies. She never used him again and decided she would ONLY have a woman instructor in future! Can't say I blame her.

It's a long time since I passed my test, didn't really get on with my first instructor but only realised it when I took some lessons at University instead of at home. Found the second instructor much better and passed with him. Mind you there's less traffic in Durham than there was in London ...

My brother, me, my sister and my mother all used the same instructor and I remember him as being very good.
    Happy chappy
