OK. I'm with Scottish power and pay just under 13p per kwh. So 28kwh a day would cost about £3.50.
With E7, you probably get 4kwh at about 5p a unit so 20p. The other 24kwh are probably 15p or more. Total £3.80 a day
30p a day = £27.30 a quarter.
You need your kwh costs to work out the real cost to you.0 -
MargentaSue,
just looked at my last bill and I am now very confused:
It looks as if I am being charged:
Electricity: 9.751p/KwH plus 26.09p per day standard charge
Gas: 2.541p/Kwh plus 18.42p per day standard charge.
I am on a price fix tarif. I changed to Scottish Power, because they seemed to offer the best deal...Challenges:
3 NSD per week0 -
Yeah your right. We have around 8 40w bulbs. This works out like this i think?!
8 x40w = 3.2kwh x 3 hrs a day = 9.6kw (28 kw a day average).
So if i got energy saving bulbs all round, this would be:
8 x 7w = 0.56kwh x 3 hrs a day = 1.68kw!!
So 8x40w=320w x 3hrs a day = 960wh, just under 1kwh.
Magentasue also was wrong in post above.0 -
teterow - 18 units per day of gas sounds fine to me. Gas units are cheap, electricity units are a lot more expensiveIndecision is the key to flexibility0

18 metric units of gas = 198 kwh which at teterow's tariff of 2.541p = £5.03 per day.
However if they have an imperial meter then 18 units = 567 kwh= £14.40. From their usage I guess it is metric so about £35 per week, a bit on the high side.0 -
So if my gas usage is a bit on the high side, despite not heating the house that much...what is the issue here? We switch the boiler to constant, if we want heating, otherwise have it set to off. Dont think the timer is working very well. The boiler is quite old, could that be the problem?
from 5Dec until 26Jan: average daily gas 35 units!!! and electricity 9 units!Challenges:

Just seen the last part of your post, ie 35 units average per day, thats horrendous:eek: . Did you get those figures from a bill, if so the bill must be extremely big.How many kwh did that convert to.
To answer your question about the boiler, yes old ones are far less efficient than modern ones but not to the extent of using 35 units a day for 5 hours use.
PS the good news is that your electicity use at 9kwh per day is quite low.0 -
Thank you very much for your help - notbritishgas.
Just checked and yes, gas is metric, meter has m3 on it.
Yes, the daily average use from my online account with Scottish Power. They have a consumption chart.
Right from 5/12 to 26/01 - it says 1826 kwh (gas m3) which averages to 35units!
That is madness, as we usually sit at home with 4 layers on and a blanket, and have the heating only on for a few hours!
Or am I giving my meter readings incorrectly??? For gas there are 8 numbers, of which the last 3 are in red and the first number is a 0. So just giving numbers 2345....Challenges:

So for 52 days you used 1826 kwh which amounts to £46.39 plus daily standing charge. I would say that is OK. If you think it is high for your limited use it could indeed be down to an old inefficient boiler.
Don't forget the period in question has been one of the coldest for 32 years.0
