Radiotors not getting hot
Hi there,
I am the owner of a flat and wondered if you could give me some advise. One or two of my radiotors dont get very hot. I know that will probably have to be "bled". Who do I call to do this? And how much is it likely to cost?
Thanks
Susann

Try googling 'bleeding radiators' and you'll find it will cost you nothing0

This is a DIY job. As suggested, google or start here:

There are many reasons that could cause a radiator to not get warm.
e.g.
1. Require bleeding as you suggest - this is normally evident by the lower half of the radiator getting warm whilst the upper half is cool (because that's where the trapped air is)
2. The radiator is partly blocked by sludge - this is normally evident by the lower half of the radiator remaining cold, since that's where the sludge is resting.
3. Unbalanced system.
You may need an experienced plumber/heating engineer to identify & rectify as necessary. They don't come cheap unfortunately. Call around and ask for some quotes. If you can get one for less than £50 per hour you're not doing too bad. If you can get one via personal recommendation, so much the better"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
