  • :D That'll be me then!

It's only a question of repeatedly bleeding the rads though isn't it?

Sentinel consider a typical heating system with up to 10 radiators to contain around 70 litres of water... 1 litre of X100 is enough to treat such a system.

I don't know how you'd go about finding out how much water a system contains, apart from emptying into a container that has litre markings on the side!
  • That's what I thought! (I suppose yuo could calculate the volume of the F&E, plus the volume of the pipes and rads, but that sounds a bit mental).
  • The 'rule of thumb' that has always been used in the industry is that a typical central heating system is up to 10 radiators or 100 litres. Had a quick check through the web and all other manufacturers of inhibitors give that there products treat 100 litres

See Fernox Protector on their website for example

Sentinel used to state that X100 treats 100 litres so what has happened? Now on their product pages they say 10 rads without a reference to actual volume, but if you search the site hidden in the F&Q's they say this is only 70 liters of system water. Have they simply diluted their product down to make it cheaper for them to make and want us to believe that it is the same as before?? This seems like a con to me. pound for pound Fernox is cheaper.
