Domestic US flights

Hi all,
want to book a domestic flight in the US. Can anyone recommend any good sites and tips on when/how to book it?

I am going from Houston to Indiannapolis from Apr 2-Apr 11. The cheapest I found so far is $380 which seems like a lot to me! I have a few restrictions so willing to pay a bit more although not extortionate full price amounts...

Looking at the prices so far, it seems that last minute deals are better than the ones in the UK where you book early for cheap flights! I'm not willing to risk it for too long but if someone can tell me if they've done a last minute thing it would be good.

The last time I did a US internal I got the departure airport from google checked which carriers they use then went to their webby, think it was America west.

Its probably not exactly a popular route to take, cos that seems a bit steep newyork to vegas is cheaper than that and twice the distance.

It is always a problem flying on routes that are not well used. I can Fly from Miami to San Francisco for under $200 return for over 2,500 miles each way . Yet a distance of less than half this between provincial cities can be double the price.

...and trying to get a decent price from SFO to Hawaii is nigh-on impossible!

Much cheaper if you could go from Dallas..... (about 4 hour drive from Houston)
