DLA & Concessionary travel.

Hi,

I'm entitled to receive a concessionary travel pass but was wondering if I'm able to apply with my original DLA award letter (Ent1) or do I need to call the DWP for the DBD384 letter? Seems kinda redundant to request a letter stating what the original letter already says.

I believe you get the concessionary travel pass (I assume bus pass) from your local council

Depending on rate of DLA you may qualify for a blue badge, this applies to the holder and not the driver who can only use it if you are with them
  • Hello Alliec,

Depending on your council, most forms seem to request your GP to fill in a section for entitlement, rather than go by your DLA proof.
My Doctor's surgery refuses to complete the forms, and the council accepted proof of diagnosis which I had in the form of a consultants review letter, so there is some variation.

Get the forms, and speak to the council and see what they will take,

    Regards

  • you get concessionary travel for Higher rate mobility. the blue badge can be applied for through your council and ask your GP for support.

  • I get DLA higher mobility and went to collect a form for my 'bus pass'. They said they wanted a doctors letter which would have cost me getting on for £20. So I said that I'd already got a blue badge and my dla award letter and they took copies of both of those. Gave them my photo and got the bus pass within a week. :T

In my borough of London you have to meet certain criteria to recieve a disabled pass & a doctor or consultant has to fill out an application form then sign & stamp it.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • My daughter has a concessionary pass and I can travel free with her on the C+1 scheme as she needs help and supervision when travelling.

I had to get my claim form through a library and had to deal with two librarians as I forgot to bring photos of my daughter when I did my initial visit.

The first librarian I dealt with was really good - very helpful and fully aware of the rules. Sadly the second one was dreadful - very judgemental, nosy and downright rude.

We did get the pass however and she gets DLA at middle care rate and lower mobility.

Thanks for all the responses, I'll go in on Thursday and see what's said. That whole needing your GP to sign it seems like such a hassle and there's nothing about that on the website. ~sigh~ Oh well, I'll wait and see on Thursday. Thanks again!
