Dear moneysavers
I would like some advice please. I am with scottishpower and would like to manage my account online. To do so, this is giving me the option to sign up to a new service. Here are the options:
Online Energy - Capped Rate
Look forward to capped prices until 31st March 2010 with our Capped Price Energy April 2010 Offer. You'll have no more paper bills and a discount for managing your account online.
Online Energy - Capped Rate (No Standing Charge)

The above are all capped or fixed which probably means you'll have to pay a penalty to cancel. Current advice is not to fix at today's prices as prices are going down at present.

Standing Charge - you pay a daily charge and then x pence per kwh.
No Standing Charge - you pay more for the first x units in a quarter and then a lower price per kwh.
No real difference for most users - No standing charge proably better if your property is empty sometimes or you're a very low user.
That leaves you with going for the tariff with the lowest prices per kwh, if all other things (DD discount, duel fuel discount etc) are equal.0 -
