Asda jaffa cakes

One of the very few little treats I have left was the Asda jaffa cakes. At 30p until a few weeks ago they were very cheap and just as good as more expensive brands. Not so long ago I noticed they had gone up to 40p. Then, when I was in there the other day, they were 50p. So a 60% increase in a matter of weeks. They keep going on about their price rollback scheme so I wonder how long it will be before they are at 45p and they are triumphantly going on about how their jaffa cakes have been reduced by 10%.
The good bit is that there was a time I wouldn't even have noticed.
This is just one small item. Makes me wonder how many other things they are doing this with that I haven't noticed.
I wonder also what would happen if I increased my customers prices by 60% over the next few weeks.

Just for comparison:
Tesco Value 60p
Aldi 85p
That's for 24.0 -

Not sure how many in the Asda pack but I reckon it's a lot less than 24. Probably 12-14. (it's 135g weight on their website).0 -

I'm a bit late responding but just got back from Sainsbury's. 24 jaffa cakes there for 60p as well. The Asda 50p packs only have 12 I think. So now I can stuff my face with unhealthy garbage much more cheaply

I'm fed up of seeing these rollback stickers in Asda. They seem to be on almost everything in there, and as such they lose their significance. Also, if they've been ratcheting their prices by 50% or more and then dropping them by 2% it's hardly a realistic rollback.0

thats the way supermarkets work its all mind games.
I used to work nights at a supermarket, so used to do a lot of self tagging. When we did bogof say on frozn prans (too late cant spell) normal price was 3.99 we would put it up to 5.99 for the bogof then back after.0 -
Are the Asda ones you buy in a white wrapper, not a box? I bought some last week. I'll have to see if I can find my receipt.
Can't find any receipts. I thought they were still about 30p!0 -
Yes you're right, Morrisons seem to pull that particular stunt a lot on their buy one get one frees.jeffmasson wrote: »thats the way supermarkets work its all mind games.

I noticed this as well and refuse to buy them now out of principal. I've switched to the Sainsburys ones for 60p but not tried them yet.0

On Sainsburys website I noticed this offer:
McVitie's Jaffa cakes x 12 141g (4p/cake) 49p

Asda rollback what a gimmick, when the price rolls back why does it never stay rolled back,it always rolls forwards again sometimes a little more forward than before it first rolled back!!0
