paypal?

hi all

i posted on here the other day regarding a buyer purchasing an item(pushchair) and leaving positive feedback iconPos_16x16.gifReally please with item.....great communication and fast delivery!!!

then six days later when i left them feedback they decided to contact me saying various faults with item and wanted half the bin price back

i contacted ebay live support who said i had listed correctly and should report it to trust and saftey i did

i then reported it to paypal and asked where i stood on the matter as the buyer was saying they will snad

before i received a reply from paypal buyer opened a dispute so i went and phoned paypal got put through to a supivisor brendon at the claims department explained everything and he advised me to escellate the claim as she had already left positive feedback saying she was happy with the pushchair so i escellated the claim and upoladed the same close up pictures i had used for the listing

well by the next day paypa decided in her favour
i have sent paypal an email asking on what grounds they have refunded.

i think i know why as she posted this problem on the ebay forums saying she prematurely left feedback without checking the item as she did not have time as she has newborn twins so she just put it under the cupboard under the stairs

but in my opinion i think it is because she sold her pushchair for £250 on the 15 and did not want mine anymore she must have had time to check it as she had time to list and sell approx 36 items on ebay between buying my pushchair and contacting me 6 days later and from the photos she has sent me she has used it so it was ok for her at some point

now i am concerend that i am going to get a damaged pushchair back and that she will probably break it now she knows that she is going to get her money back, where do i stand with paypal if this happens or can i contest paypals decision as i know what she is saying is wrong was certianly not that way when listed or sent

any advice would be great

  • If the item arrives back not in the condition in which it was sent I believe that you can appeal, although if paypal have already given the buyer a refund and paypal reverse the decision, you will be left to try to get the money back from the buyer.

Reading the thread on the DB at post #57 the buyer does mention that they have used it...

AFAIK paypal do not take feedback left into consideration when making their decision and maybe it was someone else in the house that had time to list and sell the items you mention

Have to say that I also believe that the posters are correct when they say that you really should be listed as a business seller

prehaps it was some one else in the house that had time to list the items but if that is the case why did the someone else not have time to check the pushchair over it only takes 10/15 mins to check a pushchair over it takes longer for me to list an item on ebay

and i have said that it has become apparent that i do need to register myself as a business seller

Paypal were wrong when they said feedback matters, it does not. I have found in the past that paypal often tell you exactly what you want to hear just to get you off the phone. The trick is to try and get it in an email from them.

I posted htis on another thread so excuse the duplicate:

There appears to be some confusion about ebay and paypal on some threads this morning. It is best to be clear about how they work before we give sellers false hope.

Firstly feedback does not matter, get any idea out of your head that ebay and/or paypal care about feedback, they don't.

Secondly there is no point in phoning ebay or paypal to ask them what to do. Ebay will tell you to resolve this with your other party, paypal will tell you whatever you want to hear just to get you off the phone.

So, you are left with a possible SNAD claim via paypal which frankly could go either way. If paypal find against you as the seller the buyer must send the item back fully tracked. Once it comes back and buyer can prove it using tracked delivery then paypal will use your funds to reimburse the buyer.

If you have got the same item back but in a deliberately damaged state, or you get a different item back then you can phone paypal and ask them about an appeal. You can also re contact the buyer and say that there appears to have been a mistake and the IMEI number or other identifiying mark does not match and that you have threrefore been advised to keep 'all' your original photos plus the new item and take this to small claims. You might worry a dodgy buyer into maybe remembering that they had sent the wrong item back.
