A question for any Halifax Bank of Scotland customers out there

I have a Halifax account. Never used my OD in 20 years. I vaguely remember they used to write to me telling me my OD facility was due to end and to ring to re-arrange. I never did and I always refused a chat with their financial advisor to ensure I was making the most of my money etc. I still have my OD available (£1200) though according to my on-line statements.
Similar situation with Lloyds account.

Just looked at my HICA online and the amount of guaranteed available overdraft has changed from £5000 to £10000.
I don't pay my salary into this account just run £1000 through it every month so as to qualify for the higher rate of interest they were offering on the Guaranteed Saver Reward account.
I have never used the overdraft in the 15 months I have had the account but do have savings with them.
Nationwide, where my main current account is held, have reduced my guaranteed available overdraft from £3000 to £1500. My salary is paid into this account I have never used the overdraft in 20 years and do have savings with them.0 -
I had that letter last August and they reduced my (never, ever used) overdraft from £300 to £0 for "added flexibility"!! Mmmm, not sure where the added flexibility was in having it reduced to zero! Anyway, I reapplied online, querying their flexibility and stating it was just a buffer zone and within 48 hours they had reaapplied the overdraft and it's on an annual review now. It was rather frustrating as I've got the high interest account, have a decent amount paid in each month and never go overdrawn.0

If you need an overdraft, and you find yourself given the short shift by your bank then you can always have overdraft interest FREE from £100-£500 if you agree to have a packaged bank account. Some banks do offer this, like Barclays, Natwest and lloyds TSB. BUT this is not automatically granted as it depends on your credit history (if you apply a new account) or internal score that will give the determination whether to have one or not.0

Hi guys, just a quick update on my overdraft issue with Halifax; I wrote to their underwriters with the following letter;
Dear sir/madam,
I am writing to enquire as to the reason you have withdrawn my overdraft facility on my current account, When I first opened the account in July 2008 your underwriter Mr "" advised me that after 6 months good account conduct you would continue and or increase my overdraft facility, following your recent letter this appears not so.
I started my relationship with HBOS on the premise that you were going to provide me with the facilities that I required for my day to day banking and that the level of service would be better than that of my previous bank Alliance and Leicester, you seem to have gone back on your word which I find very dishonest as I have kept up my end of the bargain and managed my account very well indeed, no excessive use of my overdraft, no missed direct debits and the account is in credit 98% of the time.
My credit history is clean and I work hard to keep it that way, although I may have applied for several products in an attempt to move my credit card account from a sub-prime lender like my capital one card to you has failed several times, this should not bear any reflection on my account and credit status.
Please could you reconsider re-instating my overdraft facility as I find this an unfair decision as there is no just cause for you doing so, however I must add if you choose to remain with your current decision of revoking this “useful” facility on my current account I will have no option but to end my relationship with HBOS resulting in me moving my business elsewhere.
For your reference I have included the last three account statements in this document, please do not ask me for originals as I have opted for electronic “paper less” banking therefore I do not receive postal statements.
Regards
Result.
Guess what...they have re-instated my overdraft.
Another happy customer...till next time.
Regards
Mr PSince when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0
