Anyone know anything about the forthcoming v pay card

Working in the retail trade I have just received a briefing regarding the introduction of v pay. I have looked it up on the internet and the information contradicts what i was told at work. I was told it gets loaded at paypoint machines but is used the same as a normal debit card. I know it does not have a magnetic strip just chip and pin to increase safety aspect apparently. Do you have to apply for one of these cards specifically from your bank or are banks slowly transferring over to this type of card. Are they linked to an existing account.

It's an electronic-only, chip and PIN-only card currently only issued in Europe. There's no idea yet if it'll be issued here, and nobody's made any public overtures towards doing so.0

We have been told at morrisons that we will soon be taking it.0

Many ATM's are showing the symbol on them, I think the cards can have a dual function i.e. the chip can be loaded with cash (a stored value card, paypoint and payzone are certainly gearing up for this in the prepay market) or the card can be used as a debit card0
