opening up uk bank account from spain?

I am currently working in spain.

I now need to open up a UK bank account while I am in spain. I suppose my mum could help.

All I have is drivers license and bills though. Whats the easy option is there something I can do online?

    Are you planning to move to the UK in the next 3 months? If so, HSBC can help you out with a passport account but it costs £6 per month.

    To open a current account, even a basic one, you need to be a permanent UK resident :( (ie: you need a UK address that you can provide proof of, at least)

    I am a uk resident born and bred just not there at the moment. so what is the best option?

    Do you have an address in the UK you can provide for the bank and that you can prove?

    PS Being a resident and a citizen are 2 different things. Atm you are a British citizen but a Spanish resident.

    the problem with that is I have to wait till im back in the uk and thats no good.

    it's not possible. have you seen if any spanish banks offer sterling accounts?
