Sludge in F&E tank - only drained 12 months ago

    Mine has a brown coloured thick scum/sludge all over the surface. Doesn't sink to the bottom just clings to the top.

    The system is aerating, and introducing fresh water every time you bleed the rads will be helping this process along. And corroiding your system.

    Get a good engineer to check the whole of the system, and clean and disinfect the tank.

    looks like i need to invest in a set of longer laders to get into the loft to check my header tank for said "scum" in the header tank..... if there is then i suspect my problem maybe down to the fact that the system was drained and refilled when the pump was replaced....
