Thanks everyone! I think I will send them out a year in advance :-) ohh it's just so difficult not to be premature about it

I didn't have a chance to be premature- we only decided to get married (after a 5 year engagement) in September- getting married this August!0

I sent mine out about a year in advance as having a summer wedding and didn't want people booking their holidays.0

I think a year in advance is fine, any shorter and you'll get people starting to book holidays to get early deals etcMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0

Also important to give a lot of notice for weekday weddings!0

I am sending mine out this week, we are getting married on New Years Eve this year so want to get them out early so people don't make other plans to go out!!!0

We've been sending ours out this week, our wedding is June 2010.. gives people plenty of time to arrange other things such as holidays
plus, I was just really excited that we had booked the church and wanted to let everyone know! 0 -
My daughter is a teacher and is getting married at the start of the Christmas Holidays next year (2010) so is planning on sending her 'save the date' memos with her Christmas cards this year and following on with the invitations in July. This is early I know but with schools closing on different days for the end of term she wanted to give as much notice as possible to her teacher friends plus others who would need to book the day off work (Monday wedding). It also gives people plenty of notice of the extra expense so close to Christmas.
Lots of things to take into consideration hence the early notifications.0 -
Hi
I was wondering what the etiquette is regarding sending 'Save the date' cards to people who you are only going to invite to the evening reception?
Should you send out two sets - one saying please come to both and the other saying come to the evening?
Ta muchly
