Hi
Hope this is the right place to post this...
I'm going to southern ireland next month. I'll be there the day before my payday:rolleyes: So does anyone know if i can use my lloyds visa debit card in shops and atms over there without being charged for doing it.
(i would try and save some money before going but due to car mot this is very unlikely)
Thanks in advance :T

You can use your debit card there but Lloyds will charge you for the privilege.
2.99% exchange fee, plus:
£1 fee on a purchase
1.5% min £2 max £4.50 for ATM usage (moral - don't take out small amounts)
That's still better than the average (but not by much) for getting cash here and taking it with you.0 -
I can't see why not unless the trader never takes debit cards. Some would never take credit cards as the prices of the goods is reduced by the fee they have to pay. Debit cards are different though. I always think of them as the same as paying cash. The rules should be similar to ours as we are all in the EC. The ATMs should say on them whether or not there is a fee. If you can locate one for your own bank there should definitely not be a fee.0

NB the currency conversion fees though. And also while banks let you use UK ATMs for free, not so sure you can use foreign ones for free also?0 -

Yes, you are right. I just realised that the currency is the Euro. I happen to have 900 of these in a pot in the cupboard ready for our next Spanish holiday but it looks like I won't be able to go so I will have to find somewhere to change them.
I can't believe that I will actually make a gain.:j0 -
Try for a Nationwide card - then there are no charges.0
