I know I sound like an idiot, but...
I thought I'd remind some of you pros about the wonder of being a newbie. I checked out my garden today and a load of things I thought were dead have started having shoots and things! Coming right out of the ground! Now, this may not be a shock to you lot, but it was an absolute treat for me!:rotfl:
I kind of didn't get the fact that some of my plants would die ALL THE WAY BACK before they woke up again in spring - so I thought I'd lost them all, but lo and behold, they are resurrected. :j
I am now completely excited about my garden for the summer, because I thought I was going to have to start from scratch again this year (I'm in a new build) and some things will be there for me. Woo Wee!:T :T :T

Gardens are always full of surprises..........having had a garden for years I ought to know what to expect but being a bit disorganised in every way(despite keeping some kind of journal to make notes of things) I am surprised every year when things shoot up - daffodils I expect after years of them, along with the bluebells but I made a point a few years back of only buying plants that would come up every year. Sadly, some don't but I buy at boot fairs a lot, pop them in, admire them etc. then when they come up the following year its a case of 'heavens, I forgot I planted that there !'
Some things come up that the birds have dropped for us (oh if only I could be that successful planting seeds !) and as far as I'm concerned, if it flowers and I like it then its a wild flower........never a weed and if it chooses to live in my garden then I'm quite honoured.
May you have many more ''surprises' - all pleasant ones:jMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

That's fab Jiblets! It's like double treats - once when you planted them and now when you thought you'd lost them. If you're anything like me, you forget half the plants you've got anyway so there's always a treat in store. I did try labelling but my labels wander/become undreadable.0

I got married at the tender age of 19 (many years ago) and was thrilled with my garden. Have to admit I was disappointed that so much "died" during winter and was happy once spring started!
Still living in the same house 35 years on with a couple of extensions added. The garden has changed so much since those early days. My one big regret was that I didn't take lots more photos of those changes

I am a garden fanatic-wannabe, I love being in my garden and growing fruit veg and flowers but am by no means an expert. Any how, when I moved into this house a few years ago it was the end of october so the garden looked pretty drab, and after leaving so many wonderful well-established plants behind I was somewhat disappointed. That is until the spring came around and I discovered it was full of so many beautiful plants and flowers. I have added to it and by the time late spring and early summer are here it is constantly full of colour andlife. Nature is just so amazing!Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

Yeah - I've got some snowdrops coming too! And I'm really pleased because I was told that they can be very picky about where they choose to grow, and I'm sure the 3 little sprouts I saw earlier weren't invading grass strands, so rock on!Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o

Remember to take pictures, its great to look back on in a few years time! I've got some from when I first moved in, and do a panorama photo every year on that date. Its easy to do if you use Autostitch, plus its free which is a bonus :j0
