Windows Users! Nyxem Virus - Make sure you scan your PC for viruses!

Windows users, make sure you update your virus scanner and scan your computers for viruses before the 3rd February, otherwise you may run the risk of being infected by the deadly Nyxem-E virus triggering the loss of documents and files on your computer, including:
  • DMP - Oracle files
  • DOC - Word documents
  • MDB - Microsoft Access database files
  • MDE - Microsoft Access/Office files
  • PDF - Adobe Acrobat files
  • PPS - PowerPoint slideshows
  • PPT - PowerPoint files
  • PSD - Photoshop files
  • RAR - Compressed archives
  • XLS - Excel spreadsheets
  • ZIP - Compressed files
I would also recommend you have a backup of your PC and any valuable files.

Some more info at the Nyxem BBC News Article published today (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4661582.stm) and on a Google Search for Nyxem: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=nyxem&meta=
Nyxem-E is also known as the Blackmal, MyWife, Kama Sutra, Grew and CME-24 virus.

There is a plethera of info on how to protect your PC on the techie forum
I suggest you have a look there......

I suggest that Just Norton is fine as long as you keep it upto date.

Just get a Spyware removal tool as well like
Spybot Search and Detroy and AdAware.
