A while ago I bought a Tesco DVD recorder and saw a method on one the threads here on how to turn it into multi-region. I have just been given a Sony RDR GX350 DVD recorder and want to do the same with that. Does anyone know how I can do it?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Jane

Probably with great difficulty. All the "Big" usually require either service remotes, firmware fixes or actual chips swapping, they spend money to make them difficult to change the region on.
A quick google on it shows you need a service remote, that can send the right IR code to change the region, you may be able to do this via a hacked remote, or a Palm or Windows CE (or a pronto) but it's not as easy as entering a secret code into the machine. Look at Item 370147393970 on ebay buit ther eis no free way unless you have a lot of kit at home. If you have a Pal http://dvd-region-codes.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=9a493850cfdac853bdb6eff3601d1fca&topic=31.msg61#msg61 can help but that assume you have the PDA0 -
I looked on this site, thanks! However I don't understand what they were going on about. With the Tesco DVD recorder I just used the remote supplied with the recorder, but this site seems to be saying that you can only do it with certain one for all remotes - does anyone know if you can do it with the Sony remote?Jane

No
They are on about using a One For All brand muti remote. The standard Sony remote will not send the codes that you need.0
