Best type of coax to use.

Options
hi,

About to move the TV point and wondered which of the many different coax cables I should use for the satellite dish. At present using ordinary 75 Ohm coax with no problems detected. (Was here when I moved in.:))

The run will be no more than 10Mtrs.

Looking at screwfix there appears to be a choice of 3 different types to use but I dont want to pay out uneccesarily for the expensive option.

I intend connecting coax to a double wall outlet.

Since this will be the new outlet I also intend connecting the existing coax (fed from arial) . Should I upgrade this to allow for the freeview signal that may one day come this way?

Is there a special cable that I need from wall to TV?

Any advice?

I would use the PF100 Satellite Cable, I would also not use a wall outlet, they reduce available signal.

A direct connection from your dish to your receiver is the best option.

Same applies to your aerial connection, even more importantly as wall outlet could reduce signal enough to cause problems with your reception.

    Hi Anactive,

    Thanks for that.

Are you also saying change ARIAL cable for PF100 or just leave with ordinary coax?

I would change it while you are doing the job, it is far better shielded against external interference ie; fridge thermostats, passing mopeds etc.

    Good luck with the project.;)

My thoughts exactly! Less breaks in the cable the better.

I always get my cables and installation bits and bobs from 'satcure'.
