Accidental Damage-Cancellation Cover

Hi Folks

Was in the process of booking a holiday with Hoseasons for the summer but when I got to the checkout I was been quoted an extra £100 for cancellation insurance and accidental damage insurance. In these tight times that seems a bit excessive to me.

Could I shop about for these items as the wife is a bit scared of booking without any cover? And if so what are the best sites for such items?
Or are these policies unique to Hoseasons?

Holiday companies cannot insist you take their insurance (it's against the law), but they can insist you have some insurance before booking and it's a very good idea anyway.

You will almost certainly find cheaper cover elsewhere.
If you go on lots of holidays you might be better off buying an annual policy.
But if it's just one then "single trip" cover will be cheaper.

You need to purchase it at the same time as booking (as you could fall ill or get sick from the point of booking).
I don't have any recommendations for companies but a good start would be to check the articles on this site.
