Worth repairing double glazing????????

We have recently bought a new house, originally built in 1964.
Prob is the DG is knackered. Sound just seems to travel through the windows, although very little draft. Closer inspetions shows the black rubber edging around the hinges is worn (are these the seals?). This is in every room from the front to the back including the bathroom.
Now for the big question: can this be repaired simply or am I going to have to fork out for new glazing?
I lie awake at night thinking of the cost only to be interupted by the sound of a cat walking outside!!!

If the vaseline doesn't work you can buy replacement seals - but shop around as prices vary enormously.0
