Current Account for pensioners

Can anyone recommend a current account for people on low incomes such as pensioners. I am lookin for a new account for my mother who is getting a measly ammount of interest on her money at the moment (.25% AER) in a Nationwide FlexAccount. If she paid into the same account at least £1000 per month it would go up to 3%. Her money often mounts up in her current account to over £2000 and she is getting very little return for it.
Thanks

Many thanks for the advice. I forgot to say that she would require a non-Internet Account as she hasn't got access to a computer at home.

I would call or pop-in to Nationwide and explain the situation.
Nationwide offer some good savings accounts and you could just transfer the excess money over to this savings account with Nationwide.
This can be done in person (in the local branch) and or over the phone (from home).
Nationwide might even be able to sweep excess un-used money over to a linked savings account with them!
If she's happy with Nationwide and knows them it makes more sense to stay as Nationwide helpful and or approachable
