suzuki vitara jlx start problem

decide to half in for a little project with a mate, we bought a k plate suzuki vitara jlx, 1.6 petrol.
we bought it knowing it had a few faults and needs tidying up.
one of the faults is when the engine is cold it starts up, when the engine is running it will run all day long, but as soon as you turn it off it wont fire up again, it will turn over no problem but you get a clicking noise coming from a vacuum valve bolted on to near the front of the rocker cover and it wont start, turns over but wont fire up. when the valve stops clicking it will fire up.
we suspect it could be a faulty fuel pump or possibly just this little valve causing us the problem.
we havent had a chance to have a right good look at it or test things.
just wondering if anyone has had anything similar?
im going to join a suzuki or vitara forum, can anyone recommend the best one?

it was a very good price, with very little wrong with it (or we hope) we will get it tidied up and punt it.
its not to my taste, i would never have bought this for myself, but in the summer it should interest someone, its the fatboy version with the wide wheels and sidesteps....work permit granted!0 -
