I noticed some in Sainsburys at the weekend, but I wasn't paying attention to the price I'm afraid.

I noticed this too and just checked their website, vanilla or amaretto £3.21
  • As you posted this first as an OS thread until it got moved - I thought I would give you an OS reply - make them! They are basically just a strongly flavoured sugar syrup.

So vanilla, almond, coconut you can make by boiling about 300g sugar with 600ml water until it's thickened a little, then add a generous slug of flavouring or essence - I use a whole one of those little bottles per 500ml of syrup I make. Make sure it's not an oil based flavouring or it won't mix.

Caramel you can make by melting 200g sugar in a heavy pan until it caramelises (it's very hot) then adding same sugar syrup and boiling until it mixes together.

Pour into a bottle once cool - keeps for ages.

You can buy the Costa Coffee Syrup sets made by Monin at costashop.co.uk , you can also buy tins of Costa Coffee Beans and Pre Ground Coffee as well, it does cost slightly more and there's a postage cost it means you can get you coffee fix at home without leaving home!

And I for one am rather grateful for it! I've been hunting for a big bottle of Gingerbread Syrup but have been unlucky so far. I don't have a Makro card either :(

Still, the resurrection of this thread has led me to the Costa Shop :D

I buy 1 litre bottles of Sweetbird gingerbread syrup from amazon. I bought a couple of bottles and the pumps for just over £20 including delivery.
