Is It Cheaper To Keep Switching The Boiler On And Off?

Is it cheaper to keep switching the gas on/off or leave on constant and let the theromstat click in and out when it gets too hot or too cold?? I've heard that it costs more to fire up the heating from cold and it's better to have it running all day??

I keep mine on constant, and it just clicks in when the temperature drops. I think it's cheaper this way as if you turn it off then switch it on when it gets cold, you need to reheat the room/house, which takes longer, iyswim?Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £81,810.42 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £175.04 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £1,406.55 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0

i recently tried this in my large 5 bedroomed house.
We use far too much gas
so first 3 days heating on 6am till 11pm x amount
2nd 3 days heating 6am -8am 4pm -11pm -17 units but I was freezing as the only one home all day
3rd 3 days heating on 6 am -11pm but using the thermostat on boiler. Up 4 units but overall down 13 and I was comfortable.
Try it and see each house is different. I now leave it on all day unless I an out too.
