I was doing so well with collecting a few here and there and had got up to £10 worth, but over Easter I had an emergency and needed £8 of them! But I've collected another 1, so that's £4 for my holiday this weekend!

When that happens I use online banking to transfer the said amount of savings from current into savings as soon as I get back on track - that way still saved. I am now up to 14 quid and getting a little overzealous - was looking at the change pile next to the till in the post office like it was the holy grail!!

Welcome Boswell and Wilbur!!...and jmarko and jmarko's wifey from yesterday!! :hello:

Its great to see so many people collecting, and you'll be amazed how quickly they start to add up... I've had a bit of a "dry" patch over the last couple of weeks, but today I got 2 coins, which has taken me to £40 in the pot, so tomorrow I'm going to take it to the bank and pop it in to try and get a little bit of interest.:j Violetb has a good idea re: the internet banking transfers, and sometimes I do it this way and then just spend the £2 coins (saves having to queue in the bank:rotfl: !!).

Either way, you'll be amazed at how much you manage to put away without really trying - I've managed way more than I thought I would when I started collecting in February.:D I've hit my holiday spending "target" and am now saving for any "unforeseen holiday expenses" (including that we are going on holiday with my parents and my dad is celebrating his 75th birthday while we are away so we are taking them out for a meal to celebrate!_party_ ). However, we are all fairly careful when it comes to money;) , so I doubt we will eat anywhere particularly bank-breaking and I suspect that I will return home with some cash in hand - and it will be going straight back into the bank for my car tax (which is my next £2 saving target!) at the end of October!!:T

    Good luck with your collecting!

There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.

    I'm joining officially now.
Have been saving them for a bit, but didn't know about this thread.

I've got £30 so far, and am saving to clear some debt. or should that be to pay for the bike I just bought on eBay???

I'm going to add them to my car total when I get up to £40........... or will it be £60  I'll see. :D
