Bed and Isa query

I've some investment funds that I'd like to shelter from tax by using my ISA allowance next year. I see several brokers offer 'Bed and Isa' options to achieve this, but I can't see the difference between 'Bed and Isa' and simply selling the investment fund myself and re-investing the proceeds in the same fund, only under an ISA wrapper.
As I understand it both methods count as a disposal for CGT, so is there some big advantage to 'Bed and Isa' that I'm missing?
