£170 Discount at PC World!

PC World have a misleading poster advertising Windows XP and an ADSL router, The picture shows the FULL version of XP proffesional (upgrading from a machine that has no operating system or Windows 95), but they have an 'upgrade' banner over the edge of the poster. They say that the advert is only for the UPGRADE version (upgades from win 98, 2000, ME). If you go to the till with the FULL version and the ADSL Router as advertised in the picture on the poster advert, when they argue the upgrade version, you say I am upgrading - from Windows 95. Take a picture of the poster with your cameraphone and say you will be contacting the Advertising Standards Council, confirm that the poster is misleading and that you are willing to pay for the goods as advertised in the picture, the offer price is £169.99 for BOTH the router and XP, (XP Proffesional is £259.99 and the Router is 79.99), when they give in as they did with me you'll get £170 of discount!! :rotfl:

You gotta stick to your guns on this one, they really dont want to give in but it IS a misleading advert, they pulled down the poster as I stood at the till.

Thanks OP it does sound like a great deal apart from the fact that PC world are charging that much for Windows XP professional
The most I've seen it for is around the £170 mark and you can get the OEM version (including a free mouse to keep M$ happy) on the Microdirect web site for just over £98
Granted it doesn't come with M$ support but I don't know anyone that would use/need it anyway

Good on ya! If they advertise it they can damn well deliver it!

Still fighting another misleading advertiser in the DSG group myself - Currys - over a One For All URC7555 remote control (there's another thread on here). Unfortunately I bought it from their website so fighting by email/letter and 40 days on still no closer to it...

Ever tried taking a full version of windows xp professional back to John Lewis - without a receipt.
I have and have been given £250 cash!!! in exchange. Not even a credit voucher!
Could be the way to get a great router plus cash!
Still I think I might just have a conscience about it.
