Tesco Clubcard Credit Card - trouble adding an additional card holder

Hi all,
I shop at Tesco a lot of the time so I've applied for a Tesco Clubcard Credit Card, to help stack up the Clubcard points. I'll be paying it off in full each month, so I'll never be paying any interest - touch wood.
My card has arrived fine - though I had to send a utility bill to confirm my address. It's a new build I moved into last year so they may have had trouble finding it.
Anyhow, when applying for the card, I requested an additional cardholder under my partner's name. Unfortunately, that card hasn't arrived and we've had a letter saying they have been unable to add the additional cardholder as they were "unable to satisfy several checks to confirm the identity and address of any additional cardholder".
I phoned Tesco to enquire and the lady tells me it's a problem with the credit check. My other half has never had credit problems before and isn't in any debt other than her student loan. Tesco tell me there's nothing they can do, but I can do a free credit check with Equifax to see what the problem might be.
So, next step is that credit check. Tried doing it today but the Equifax website won't recognise my address - as a result of being a new build I guess. I think the credit check needs to be with Equifax as that seems to be who Tesco uses.
What should my next step be? Neither of us have previously been rejected for a credit card so we're not sure what to do.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried getting in touch with Equifax and asking about the problems with your address?0

I couldn't seem to find a way to contact them. The website only offers support to members, and I can't join as it won't recognise my address.

Are you and your partner on the electoral roll at your current address?
When you apply for credit facilities, bank accounts etc.or to the credit reference agencies, ensure your address matches the details as they appear on the electoral register and you'll avoid this (plus all the inconvenience of sending documents through the post as proof of residency), because your ID can be checked electronically using the electoral roll.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Moggles, we're not yet, but we will be soon! Thanks for the tip!

think tesco use Experian and Equifax tbh.0

Go to the Royal Mail website and see if your address is on their system. If not you can email them to add it and it then gets included in a file passed to companies to keep their address systems up to date. Most companies who use it should update within about 4 months.0

Thanks tripled, I've done that too. Royal Mail website wasn't finding our address so I used the suggested contact form to send it to them.
