There doesn't seem to be a standard name for these quite yet so it makes searching difficult.
These devices are portable hard drives (most are really 2.5in laptop drives) with their own power source and a card reader for memory cards.
They allow digital camera users to back up their pictures to the hard drive while on the move.
I would like one so that there's a better chance of my pics being safe while I'm using my camera on holiday. My camera uses SD cards but compatibility with memory sticks would be a bonus.
I've spotted these two from https://www.usbtech.co.uk. They're £50 and £75. Both store photos but the second also has an MP3 player. I'd happily pay an extra £25 for that.
