Switch Transaction pending for large amount - wasnt me??

I just tried to get money from the ATM from my HBOS account and it told me I had insufficient funds, I phoned telephone banking and have been advised a switch transaction or abroad ATM transaction is pending on my account for 488 pounds.
This was not a transaction I have made as I know I dont have that sort of money at the moment and I am sitting comfortably in my front room so I am def not abraod.
The bank says they cant do anything till Monday :mad:
Any advice??

Wait until Monday?I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

Well, unless you get some more help from the bank, you WILL have to wait until Monday! I have always used these boards for useful advice from people who have been in similiar situations.
I was hoping perhaps someone had had a similiar experience and could advise what the next steps were - not be downright rude!!0 -

My advise is to sit tight until Monday. There is little you can do at the moment. I've had small amounts pending on my account (e.g. £50 on check-in to a hotel, a few pounds on some websites) but nothing this large.
However, if you know it wasn't you, I would get your card cancelled by the bank ASAP so that no more can go through.0 -
Thanks BruceyBonus will phone bank straight away. I have other amounts pending that I did make i.e amazon, tesco for online shopping but no way anything for this amount.0

I have just been through the card clone thing funnily enough with HBOS. The bad news is that if the transaction goes through and it is a fraudulent transaction it will still take a while for the fraud department to put the funds back into your account. I think I had to wait about 8 days so was left with no money in the meantime. I posted a thread this morning regarding what has happened to me since just incase the bank advise opening a new account like they did with me.

The bank say wait til Monday, others on here say you will need to wait but instead the OP throws a hissy fit! Yes it is annoying what has happened but sometimes you just have to wait, you cant stamp your feet like a child and demand action when you have already been told what action you need to follow!0

I got hit In Oct 07 - over £2200 squid in the end!!
4 transactions, all in Spain for flights.
Each bank handles fraud differently, but from my experience they'll send a form for you to complete, basically this will be your written declaration that no, you haven't revealed pin number etc.
Make sure you send this back via recorded delivery.
Intelligent Finance extended the overdraft to cover the amount pending investigation, refunded back to the account about 6 weeks later, including any charges that would have occurred.
You need to speak to the Fraud department, the regular desk jockeys can't do much for you, wait until Monday, if you have online banking then monitor it but don't flap, it all gets sorted in the end.
