Credit card charge

I pay my credit card online each month and so dont get any statements through the post. I paid my last payment on the 31st of december thinking that this would mean that I didnt need to pay the next due payment for january but I have been charged a none payment fee of tweleve pounds. Is there any point in trying to get this refunded in anyones experience or will I have to just put it down to experience? The annoying thing is I paid off over five hundred pounds on the 31st and because it seems I was a day too early I am getting a charge.

Ignoring the issue of when you made the payment (31st Dec or 1st Jan) all charges of £12 are reclaimable whatever the circumstances - see Martin's guide.0
