Are tax-free savings for part-time ex-pats covered?

I have my savings in a UK bank plus a foreign but UK registered bank. It is a normal current account but I filled out a tax form confirming that I am not in the UK for more than 3 months a year (I am a British citizen though) which means that I don't pay tax. It isn't an offshore account though, it's a normal account on which I don't pay tax on the interest (that is how it was explained to me, anyway), and I still have a UK address, which is a requisite for the tax-free status, I believe. I can't find out anywhere if my savings are still covered by the FSA compensation scheme. Anyone know?

You are mistaken if you think that you are not UK resident based on the information provided. In which country are you resident?
