Hi all,
the missus and i are thinking of a getting a deposit togther and taking on a mortgage for a house, ive been reading the mortgage guide etc on this site but what im here for is running costs, what well have to pay
im asking what sort of things we have to pay for and what does it cost?
meaning:
Council Tax
electric
Gas
Water
anything else i can think of?
im just after an idea of what it would cost to live per month
there would just be us in a 2 bedroom house, weve been looking at a few around £80,000 and hope to get atleast a 10% deposit on that
Thanks for any advice

It is a difficult question to answer as we don't know where you live so for example, the council tax cost will vary greatly.
Council Tax - go onto your council's website and check what band your house is in and how much that band costs per year. Mine is only £54 per month but I live in a band A house, in a cheap area and also get single persons discount of 25%.
Electric - I pay £30 per month for a 2 bed house but I live on my own, am not in during the day and never leave anything on standby
Gas - I pay £60 in winter, £20 in summer but I am on a pre-pay meter which apparently costs more, also my cooker is all electric so no gas used there.
Water - I pay about £18 per month for one person and I have a water meter
TV Licence - about £13 per month
Buildings and contents insurance - £23 per month
Hope this helps, even if only to give you a rough idea!
